Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide a warm and professional welcome to patients, families, and visitors entering the Inpatient Unit, demonstrating empathy, sensitivity, and compassion at all times.
  • Deliver high-quality administrative support to the Medical and Nursing teams, ensuring smooth day‑to‑day operations within the unit.
  • Attend daily multi-disciplinary team (MDT) meetings, contributing proactively to action lists and supporting effective communication across the team.
  • Accurately enter and maintain patient information in the PalCare patient management system in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Maintain and organise filing systems, ensuring all medical correspondence, laboratory results, scan requests, ACC documentation, and general records are kept up to date and easily accessible.
  • Complete documentation relating to referrals, admissions, discharges, deaths, and changes in patient condition promptly and accurately.
  • Carry out quality audits as required, supporting continuous improvement across the service.
  • Patient Confidentiality is maintained at all times. 

Desired Skills and Experience

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE 

Personable and friendly, must be able to relate to all types of people and build an effective level of rapport within a short period of time. Ability to read situations effectively and tailor responses to reflect the needs of the situation. Effective communicator in situations requiring tact and diplomacy. Able to answer queries and explain instructions.

Able to adapt well to change and absorb new tasks

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

Professional telephone and face to face manner

Excellent word processing and database skills (competent with Microsoft Office Suite)

Experienced in customer service and administrative role

Experience working in a health environment preferred
